(England specific question) I have a tiny toilet sink with two separate taps for hot and cold water. These are turning taps, that are old and are becoming hard to fully close. Yes, I could try to replace rubber seals, or even try to fit ceramic glands, but that's not the point - I hate them.

I'd like to fit mixer tap ideally. I tried to find some small one which could fit a small hole, but most on-line offers doesn't have good enough diagrams with measurements. The other option would be to fit some kind of adapter to link both side into a mixer tap.

Hence questions:

  • Does anyone know a mixer tap that would fit into one of these holes? I can plug the other.
  • Does anyone know an adapter that can link from both holes into one mixer tap? I'm not looking for something that fits onto existing taps - I want to mix my terribly hot water with cold.
  • Third option: mixer valve in one hole, the tap running water in the second hole, but they would have to be flexible taking into account how far the holes are apart.

Thank you very much, any advice really appreciated.

Single hole "mixer" faucets are dirt common, just going to be a matter of shopping (which is off topic) to find one to fit your (unspecified, but doesn't matter as you'll be the one shopping) hole. The "lavatory" and/or "vessel sink" versions stand much better odds than the "kitchen" ones, on that front. – Ecnerwal Dec 01 '23 at 19:19
  • You havent specified the size of the hole. Or the space available. A picture always helps. There are laundry taps where a lever or knob controls the flow from two pipes into one outlet. But I suspect they will be too large. – Rohit Gupta Dec 01 '23 at 23:34
  • The hole in your sink can be expanded with a holesaw designed for porcelain. It’s time- consuming and the tooling isn’t cheap, but it’s possible. – Aloysius Defenestrate Dec 02 '23 at 02:59
